Library Skills

The Kindergarten class read Goodbye Autumn, Hello Winter by Kenard Pak and watched the season change from fall to winter with beautiful illustrations. Then they coded Beebots to go from a summer tree to a winter tree with a partner using problem solving skills.

1st grade classes learned about the origin of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade while reading the book Balloons Over Broadway by Melissa Sweet.  It is the story of Tony Sarg who was tasked by R.H. Macy to come up with a celebration for the immigrants in New York City back in 1924. The parade hit the streets of New York City every year since except for during WWII when the rubber used for the balloons was needed in the war.  The students are making balloons in art class and will put on a parade for Tanner.
