Library Books and Bags

We have noticed an increase in the amount of books that are coming back water damaged.  We are in need of more plastic bags for the students to use for library books.  Please help us by reminding students to make sure water bottles are closed properly in backpacks.

Maker Madness in Library Skills

The library is a place for many learning opportunities. Maker Madness gives students a chance to experience learning by being creative through exploration with different resources such as Ozobots, Keva planks, Magnatiles, Legos, drawing, and Osmos. They are using many skills such as cooperation, communication, problem solving, respect, and responsibility.

Interdisiplinary Units with Art

Kindergarten students will be learning about the works of Eric Carle. They will be reading his books in library checkout and learning about his painting techniques in Art. Then they will paint and create flowers similar to the way Eric Carle created his pictures.

First grade students will be reading Sam & Eva by Debbie Ridpath Ohi which is a story about collaboration centered around drawing. The author/illustrator sent us a drawing she made on recycled paper.  The students will use that to make a collaborative masterpiece in art.

Golden Archer

The winner of the Golden Archer Award in Wisconsin is The Pigeon Has To Go To School by Mo Willems. Tanner students chose Who Would Win? Walrus or Elephant Seal with The Pigeon Has To Go To School coming in second.

Book Tournament

We are on to round two. Voting will take place during library checkout.

Author Visit

Alex Green will be here to read his book Dream and Believe AJ Wants to Play Football on Monday March 27. Mr. Green is a former Green Bay Packer who dreamed of playing in the NFL as a kid. His book is about him having the courage and heart to make his dream come true even after his teacher told him he won't make it. This ties in well with our April character trait of courage.
