Library News

 Youth Media Book Awards

What an exciting way to build a love of reading than with a little book contest. The students learned about book awards and are voting on which book they think has the best pictures or the Tanner Mock Caldecott Award. Currently In the Night Garden by Carin Berger is winning with a few more classes left to vote.

The Caldecott Award is given out by a panel of librarians. I always want to know what book the students think is the best. Isn't that more important? That is who the books are written for, so I am grateful that the state of Wisconsin does have a kids' choice award. Students will read the Golden Archer nominees and then vote for their choice. Voting will take place in February with WEMTA announcing the state winners in March.

Student Teacher

Rachel Bock will be doing a portion of her student teaching at Tanner in the library from January 29 - February 6. She may be a familiar face as she currently works parttime at the Kaukauna Public Library. Please welcome her.

Family Extravaganza

The Family Extravaganza at the Kaukauna Public Library will be Thursday, Februrary 8. It is sure to be an interactive evening with games, crafts, reading, and refreshments. Currently we have about 130 people sign up to attend. We will have high school volunteers helping with the event.
