Tanner Library News

 October Choice Board

New Books

Let me highlight a few new books in the library.

This book will resonate with some students as it is about a slow reader gaining confidence. The main character feels that drawing is like breathing, but making sense of words is difficult and he knows he is the slowest reader in the class.  Through patience and determination he gains confidence and uses words and pictures to tell his story.

Storytelling Math Books

There are five titles in this series and they explore concepts in math while featuring divers characters. Each story goes beyond counting and shapes to explore concepts that empower all children to succeed in school and life.

Halloween Titles

Diverse Books

A few I want to highlight are Isabel and Her Colores Go to School and Paletero Man.  Both of these books infuse both English and Spanish in the stories. Isabel is a sweet little girl who is very uncomfortable at school until she discovers there's more than one way to communicate with friends. Paletero Man is a vibrant story celebrating the strength of community, the tastes of summer and is inspired by a song from Latin artist Lucky Diaz.

This is just a few of the many new books. You will have to stop in to see all of the title.

Library Skills

1st Grade has been learning about the different areas in the library and completed a scavenger hunt using QR codes.

Kindergarten has been learning about the work of Eric Carle and is doing an art project to make art the way that Carle does.
