Novel Effects

Novel Effect is an app that responds to your voice with interactive music and sound effects, creating magical moments when you read aloud. Books are always being added to the Novel Effect database. It also has book resources for many of the books. For example you could read 100th Day Worries by Margery Cuyler to commemorate the 100th day of school and pair it with some of the activities such as story elements or shapes.

To use Novel Effect

  • Download the app
  • Connect to a blue tooth speaker for a better hearing experience
  • Open the book in the app
  • Click PRINT
  • When you hear the music it is ready for you to read
Novel Effect offers subscription plans, but also offeres unlimited access to "free reads" and limited acces to other select books. Look for the infinity symbol on the book's cover in-app or search free in the app's search bar.

We have been using it in the library and found that the students really enjoy it.

Mrs Kangas is reading Over & Under the Snow by Kate Messner using Novel Effect to 4K.

Mrs Sager is reading Mis It Up! by Herve Tullet to our friends in room A108. This book was very interactive with the students tapping the colors to make new colors.
